Marvel’s Thor is hammering home the power of wellness

Is Marvel’s ‘strongest avenger’ taking a break from the battlefield and entering a new phase of wellness?

We all need to take time for ourselves, to find a break from the stresses of day-to-day life…and all-powerful gods are no exception.

In the initial trailer for Marvel’s highly anticipated ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, it appears the titular Norse powerhouse is trading his iconic hammer for some much needed me time.

The teaser kicks off with Thor – played by Hollywood superstar Chris Hemsworth – announcing his retirement and setting off on a journey of self-discovery.

He said: “These hands were once used for battle, now they are just humble tools for peace.

“I need to figure out exactly who I am; I want to choose my own path, live in the moment…my superhero-ing days are over.”

And as an emotional core for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – seeing his home world destroyed and losing countless friends and family in the heat of battle – you can’t blame the character for throwing in the towel.

The trailer also shows Thor calmly meditating atop a cliff, training his godly physique and strengthening his connections with a few familiar intergalactic faces.

However, it seems his search for self-discovery will be cut short, with the villain Gorr the God Butcher eventually forcing the self-proclaimed ‘strongest avenger’ back onto the battlefield.

Although we can’t lift his mythical hammer, nor can we go toe to toe with some of the most powerful beings in the universe, there are a few things we can take away from Thor’s journey of self-discovery.

Improving our own wellbeing and finding time for yourself can do wonders for your mental health and what better way to seek inner peace than by following the wellness routine of a god?

Here are just a few ways you can follow in Thor’s footsteps and improve your wellbeing.

Mighty meditation

A pillar in the world of wellness, people have long used meditation to help them find balance and address the negativity in their lives.

It seems that even the god of thunder himself got the memo, as he spends some time meditating on a strange alien planet.

But there’s no need to worry, you don’t need to take your wellness sessions to the stars…instead, try setting yourself up in a quiet space at home or visiting a local dedicated studio.

This workout, I like it. Another!

If there’s one thing we all know about Thor – apart from his penchant for wielding legendary weapons – it’s his pure physical power.

And while you don’t need to withstand the force of a star or have regular punching matches with intergalactic champions, taking some time to work on your fitness can be beneficial to your physical and mental health.

Even going for regular walks or adding some light exercise to your weekly schedule can have a valuable effect on your overall wellbeing.

He’s a friend from work

The long awaited ‘Love and Thunder’ trailer brings back some of Thor’s old pals, showing the hero spending time with the Guardians of the Galaxy and fan favourite Korg.

Building and strengthening your relationships can play a huge role in your mental and emotional wellbeing, helping stave of loneliness and giving you an outlet to share your experiences.

If you’re hoping to take a page from Thor’s book and elevate your wellness, it might be worth reaching out to friends and reinforcing your most important relationships.
